Фёдор Иванович Самохин

Samokhin Fedor Ivanovich, Soviet writer. Fedor Ivanovich was born in 1918 in the village of Verkhne-Sadovskoye Oblast Don Troops. He began his career in 1934 as an accountant on a collective farm. Literary activity began in the newspaper. He worked as the executive secretary of the regional newspaper “Farmer of the Don”, and then as its editor. In the same newspaper, Samokhin’s first stories “On a roll”, “Harmony”, “Seeing Off” were printed. He was a scout for the partisan detachment "Death to Fascism". During the Great Patriotic War he was seriously wounded.

The books of Fyodor Ivanovich were invariably popular with the reader. His story Cholponbai was published by Molodaya Gvardiya publishing house, Politizdate publishing house, and publishing houses of Kyrgyzstan and Volgograd, and also received many reviews, including from literary critic and corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Tendik Askarov. Its total circulation exceeded one million copies. Samokhin’s predominant literary activity was also in essays, one of which, under the title “Blood of the Heart”, was published in the collection of works of writers of the Kyrgyz SSR “Heroes of Harsh Years”, where, along with Samokhin’s work, other grandees of Kyrgyz Soviet literature, the Lenin’s laureate, are presented Prizes of Chingiz Aitmatov, People's poet of Kyrgyzstan Aaly Tokombaev, People's poet of the Kyrgyz SSR Sooronbai Zhusuyev.

Since 1958, Fedor Ivanovich was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR. His work was marked by three certificates of honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR and the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan. His legacy is in the RSL, the National Library of Belarus, the National Library of Belarus, the German National Library, the National Library of Great Britain and the central repository of the V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University.

Samokhin died on July 17, 1992 in Bishkek.
