"Polyistōra" in title romanized from the Greek.
The cordiform map was made by Petrus Apianus and, until the discovery of the Waldseemüller map of 1507, was considered the earliest map upon which "America" appears.

LC copy has a section of glossy blank leaves bound in at end, hand rubrication, and a stamped sheepskin binding, with metal clasps missing; a pencil rubbing of the front cover laid inside the front cover and ms. ink notations in contemporary hand on front free endpaper; imperfect; lacking final blank leaf.
