Edition Notes
Autograph marginalia, covering Inf. I-XXIV, from Tasso's long lost copy of the 1536 Giolito edition of the Commedia, recently rediscovered by Casini in the Biblioteca Angelica, Rome.
In the Effemeridi letterarie di Roma, tomo XIII, p. 121-128, Filippo de Romanis printed inaccurate transcriptions of these notes, based on manuscript copies in the Chigi and Barberini collections. In 1829 they were printed at Bologna, "per nozze Rusconi-Davia", edited by Gaetano Majocchi from the Chigi manuscript. They were also incorporated (with another series of notes) in "La divina comedia, postillata da T. Tasso", 3 vols., Pisa, 1830, and in v. 30 of Tasso's "Opere", Pisa, 1831.
"L'edizione giolitina della Divina Commedia postillata da Torquato Tasso", (p. [7]-22) by T. Casini, reprinted from Giornale dantesco, 1895, anno III, p. 3-9.
"Note all" edizione di Gaetano Maiocchi", p. [83]-97.
