Miraya

asentamiento monumental de la zona capital de la civilización Caral

Primera edición.

Miraya is an archaeological site just two kilometers from the sacred city of Caral, contemporary to it - between 3,000 and 1,600 years B.C - and part of the same civilization. There are eighteen pyramidal buildings distributed around a central zone in this area. Also found in Miraya time ago some terracotta figurines that are now part of the iconography of the oldest civilization of America. They represented the human figure in a natural way, with well-defined factions and were color painted. One of theses figurines is known as the 'priestess of Miraya' for its characteristics (collar, dress, and headdress). They reveal the important status that this woman had in society.
