Woodcut architectural border on leaves [I], [CLXXXIII], and [CLXIII], with an inset figure in the tympanum of a scholar at a reading-desk, and enclosing, respectively, a large woodcut of a battle scene, Hannibal's Oath, and the reception of the ambassadors of Ptolemy VI by the Roman Senate. The same border appeared in the 1490 Malermi Bible (Goff B-644).
Text contains 171 woodcut ill., many signed "F". The ill. previously appeared in the Italian translation of Livy pub.: Venice: Joannes Rubeus, for Luca Antonio Giunta, 11 February 1493 (Goff L-255).
In some copies, the woodcut device of Luca Antonio Giunta (Husung 153) is red-printed on leaf CCLIIIv.
Includes (leaves [1]v-[2]v) a prefatory letter by Giovanni Andrea Bussi.
"L. Flori Epitoma decadvm qvattvor decim. T. Livii Patavini Historici in centvm et qvadraginta libros distinctvm" [i.e. the Periochae, here incorrectly identified as the Epitomae of Lucius Annaeus Florus]: leaves [2]v- [16]r.
