"Re-examines Columbus' diary to determine native guides' role in tracing route followed in the first inter-island reconnaissance. Concludes that Columbus depended on Arawak navigational knowledge, as Columbus himself states in his diary, and that his journal entries regarding his wanderings are accurate.
