Part VII contains: 1) An account of a voyage made under the command of Joris van Spilbergen to Ceylon in 1601-1604. It was first published at Delft in 1601; was translated into German, for the De Brys German edition of India, by Gotthard Arthus; and again into Latin for the present edition. 2) The relation of the voyage of Gasparo Balbi, a Venetian, to the kingdom of Pegu, via Syria, in 1579-1588. This translation was made from the Italian edition, published at Venice under the title, Viaggio dell'Indie Orientale, di Gasparo Balbi.
