Thérapeutique et suggestion sont encore aujourd'hui deux termes intimement liés. A la fin du XIXe siècle, une véritable théorie de la suggestion fut élaborée par Hippolyte Bernheim (1840-1919) qui fit de ce concept la base de l'hypnotisme, puis de la psychothérapie. C'est cet ouvrage majeur, incontournable dans l'histoire de la psychologie et de la psychothérapie, aujourd'hui presque introuvable et jamais réédité depuis plus d'un siècle, que nous reproduisons ici.
