The summary and main points of the book:
CHAPTER I
The first chapter deals with the general conditions which were prevailing during the time of the caliph al.walid b. Add al.Malik and his governar in Khurasan, Gutaiba b. Muslum al.Bahili. There general conditions, however, were the result of a series of changes in the structure of the Islamic society and the political regimes. These changes had started since the first conquest of Khurasan. However, following the death of al.Walid and al.Hajjaj there appeared an opposition movement demanding general reforms and the improvement of the conditions of the Dhimis, Du'afa' and others among the poor peasants. This opposition movement was active, especially in Maward al.Nahar.......
CHAPTER II
When Sulaiman died, probably poisoned, Raja' b.Haywa whit the help of those who were anxious to change the general policy of the government, succeeded in securing the caliphate to Umar b.Abd al.Aziz. Meanwhile, Khurasan was experiencing a series of developments relating to the system of the taxes and the seizure of land, which led to a general confusion in the Eastern provinces of the Arab Kingdom. This confusion was the result of the abandoment the reform policy of Sulaiman. Umar b. Abd al.Aziz followed the same lipe of Sulaiman and added to it both in the political and economic spheres. However, he did not leave the general aim of the Umayyad policy........
CHAPTER III
The revolt of al.Harith in which both the Arabs and persians took part reaveled the weakness of the government of Khurasan, But Near b.Sayyar the last Umayyad governornominated to this post by the caliph Hisham himself in order to face the situation tried to compromise the different political groups and the discontented tribes, who were in a compitation to seize power, His efforts in this connexion were:...................
