Authorship controversial. Attributed to Chevrier and/or Billardon de Sauvigny, possibly also to Gordon. Probably two different versions or even two different poems are involved, the present one and one with the title: La Prussiade, poëme en quatre chants. Francfort [i.e. Paris], 1758, signed by Billardon de Sauvigny. The latter also forms part of a series of five poems published by Chevrier under the title: Poëmes sur des sujets pris de l'histoire de notre tems, while the present poem is not identified as such and unsigned.
