Conclusioni dell'Autore : * La vitivinicoltura italiana in questo periodo attraversa una situazione di mercato difficile,con produzione eccedentaria e consumi in continua flessione.
Nel nostro paese e nel mondo intero la domanda di bevande alcoliche è in diminuzine,aumenta l'assunzione di quelle analcoliche.Tuttavia è in atto , da parte dei consumatori, una crescita di sensibilità verso i temi della qualità,della salute e dell'ambiente,esigendo sempre più vini di particolare pregio,riconosciuti e affermati.
Al mercato bisogna dare un signiticato strategico:Punto di partenza è l'offerta di un prodotto ineccepibile; la parola d'ordine è qualità,che si ottiene migliorando e/o conservando l'offerta tradizionale e allargando gli strati di consumo ( nicchie di mercato),anche attraverso nuove tipologie,meno impegnative e più confacenti al gusto giovanile.
Gli Irpini, in questo, hanno sempre creduto e oggi incominciano a raccogliere i frutti dell'impegno profuso da secoli,incentrato sulla base ampelografica,fatta di antichi vitigni autoctoni, di siti vocati,di razionali tecniche di coltivazione e di adeguate e moderne tecnologie di vinificazione.
Il comparto vitivinicolo,che occupa oltre ottomila ettari del territorio provinciale,spesso posti in ambienti difficili,dove non è facile individuare alternative colturali valide,di sufficiente remuneratività,è qualificante,con dei nomi prestigiosi e di " peso " nell'economia agricola.
Affidiamo alle trentuno aziende vitivinicole d' Irpinia, che già imbottigliano vini a D.O.C., e alle altre che verranno, il compito di " gestire la qualità", valorizzando sempre più questa tipica produzione nel contesto della nostra cultura di cui sono portatrici *.

* "Il Vigneto Irpinia" di Giovanni Borea è una ulteriore dimostrazione di come la letteratura per così dire enologica,abbia assunto ormai una valenza culturale di grande spessore. "Il Vigneto Irpinia" è innanzitutto un libro godibilissimo scritto in modo affascinante, con il ritmo narrativo che unisce mirabilmente la storia alla civiltà enologica , le informazioni tecnico-legislative al quadro d'unione di una terra straordinaria,che si sta affermando con una produzione vitivinicola di straordinario livello.Il libro di Giovanni Borea dunque è un omaggio splendido al vino,ai produttori, ai vignaioli irpini.E condivido in pieno il giudizio del Presidente della Camera di Commercio di Avellino, Elio Iannuzzi quando nella prefazione al libro scrive che si tratta "....di una occasione importante per tutti,studiosi, ma anche semplici estimatori dei vini irpini e della relativa cultura,per riscoprire il valore profondo e le radici di questa attività preziosa e tradizionale dell'uomo ".
Va evidenziato inoltre che " Il Vigneto Irpinia" è anche un viaggio nella storia e nel territorio; Giovanni Borea si è valso di una vasta bibliografia a supporto delle ricerche,di uno schema di lavoro razionale ed esaustivo che dal tema della vite e il vino è passato all'esame di due secoli di vicende , dal passato (le grandi malattie della vite del secolo scorso), alle attuali denominazioni di origine irpine,fino ad un esame completo di qualità,caratteristiche,tipologie di tutta la vitivinicoltura dell'area.
Stupende le foto di Antonio Caggiano che hanno il potere suggestivo di rendere fisicamente quasi le sensazioni,le bellezze ambientali, la realtà di questo territorio che alle tradizioni antiche unisce oggi innovazioni tecnologiche,managerialità e iniziativa.
