Un hombre narra la experiencia personal de la autora con el poeta griego y líder de la resistencia al régimen militar Alekos Panagoulis, desde su liberación tras varios años de cárceles y torturas hasta su asesinato, en misteriosas circunstancias jamás esclarecidas, en 1976. El libro es un paréntesis romántico, un soplo de aire fresco en un momento en que el trabajo de la autora era eminentemente periodístico. Fallaci, para quien un hombre debe ser valiente para conquistarme, sucumbe ante este torturado personaje, al que define como un cristo crucificado nueve veces.
