This study covers the Radical Pietist (Separatist) movement in Wuerttemberg from its beginnings in the late 17th century through its decline in the early 19th century. Included is an overview over communities founded by Radical Pietists in the U.S. (Harmony, Pennsylvania; New Harmony, Indiana; Economy, Pennsylvania, and Zoar, Ohio) and in Southern Russia.
It is the first monography on this subject, based on the prosopographic research. In 2005 the author published a register of about 3,000 Separatists: 'Separatistinnen und Separatisten in Wuerttemberg und in angrenzenden Territorien', which adds the names of those involved in the movement.
