Edition Notes
Contains the published portion of an unfinished five-division work, to which the author's "Dictionnaire élémentaire de botanique" was intended as an introductory volume. Plates for three divisions were published without text as 1.-13. année, 1780-93, to be arranged later according to division. Two divisions only had corresponding text published: "Histoire des plantes vénéneuses de la France" and "Histoire des champignons de la France." Of the latter, tome 1 (1791) was reissued in two parts, "par Bulliard and Ventenant," Paris, Leblanc, 1809; and tome 2, edited from Bulliard's ms. by E. P. Ventenant, was published in two parts, Paris, Leblanc, 1812. Text for "Histoire des plantes médicinales, " intended as the 3rd division, was never published, nor were text and plates for divisions 4-5.
A few plates are not colored.
