Edition Notes
First German edition, translated by Joh. Lange, with an important, informed introduction.
The original author of this Marrow of Alchemy, London, 1654, was from Bermuda & graduated Harvard College 1646;for his own pseudonym Starkey used a variant of the pseudonym of the mysterious American adept, Eirenaeus Philalethes Cosmopolita, whom Starkey proclaimed as his master and author of manuscripts in his possession, thus creating one of the great alchemical legends. Quite outside this complex, though often confused with it, lies the work of Eugenius Philalethes, who was Thomas Vaughan.
Appended an anonymous letter with commentary chiefly on the work of Cosmopolita.
