Jack Hamilton is a music critic and Associate Professor of American Studies and Media Studies at the University of Virginia.
Jack Hamilton is an assistant professor of American Studies and Media Studies at the University of Virginia. He is also the pop music critic for Slate magazine, where he writes about music, sports, film, TV, books, and other areas of culture.
Hamilton's work has appeared in The Atlantic, NPR, ESPN, Transition, L.A. Review of Books, and Free Darko. His first book, "Just Around Midnight: Rock and Roll and the Racial Imagination," was published in 2016.
Hamilton received his B.A. in English from New York University and his Ph.D. in American Studies from Harvard University.
