Orlando Echeverri Benedetti (Cartagena de Indias, October 26th, 1980) is a Colombian writer. He has previously worked for the newspaper El Universal, and both El Malpensante and Universo Centro have published his short stories and articles. In 2014 he won the Bogotá National Institute of Arts Book Award with his novel "Sin freno por la senda equivocada", which was later published by El Peregrino Ediciones. His second novel, "Criacuervo", was published the following year by Angosta Editores and included in the ten best books of 2017 by Arcadia magazine. Both books were finalists in the National Novel Prize of the Colombian Ministry of Culture in 2015 and 2018 respectively. In 2018 Random House published his third book, "La fiesta en el cañaveral" a collection of short stories. Since 2007 he has lived in various countries, such as Argentina, Thailand and Spain. He currently resides in Jersey, Channel Islands.
