Mehdi Bonvari has been active in the field of speculative fiction from 2000 and has been translating sci-fi and fantasy novels and short stories to Persian for more than two decades. His first short story translation was printed in 2003. He has translated several sci-fi and fantasy titles, including "Martian Chronicles" and "The Halloween Tree" by Ray Bradbury, "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman, and "Mortal Engines" by Philip Reeve. The Persian translation of "Martian Chronicles" was first published in 2010.
His first authored book publisged in 2023 is "Rivers of Mars", a Persian science fiction space opera taking place in 2300s all over inner planets from Mars to Earth.
Furthermore, Mehdi Bonvari is a well-known figure in the sci-fi and fantasy community in Iran. He has served as the former editor in chief of the "Persian Speculative Literature Group" (Fantasy Academy), a judge and member of the board of trustees of the Iranian Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature Award, and has organized the "Speculative Literature and Art Award" as well as served as a judge for the Speculative Fiction Contest.
