Jack LeRoy Lease

Jack Leroy Lease was born on April 19, 1923 in Topeka Kansas. He came to Los Angeles in 1929 with his parents. Growing up he worked in a grocery store beginning at 14 years old and continuing through High School and his time as a student at Los Angeles City College
Jack got started in the churches of Christ by being saved at a summer camp put on by the Fetterly Avenue church of Christ in the East Los Angeles area in 1939. Jack was 16 at the time.
In 1943 while attending L.A. City College, Jack volunteered for the V-1, U.S. Navy program but needed to be discharged because of ear trouble. Still, he worked at various war industry jobs during the rest of World War II.
Jack never lost interest in Bible study and for one year attended a small Bible college hosted by the Workman Street Church of Christ from 1954 to 1955 in Lincoln Heights California.
In June of 1964, Jack received his Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry by attending California State University of Long Beach and Pacific Christian College.
In 1975 he wrote and produced the first edition with a mimeograph machine and then in 1978 paid to have it produced in hard cover the book you are now reading, “For God and the Bible”, now revised in 2011.
Between careers he worked with the U.S. Postal service for four months before settling on a job with the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder for the next 18-21 years.
In 1989 Jack started attending the California Graduate School of Theology getting a Master’s degree in Biblical Languages. From 1990 to 1996 he edited “Reading through the Greek New Testament.
Jack also took post graduate courses at Pepperdine University and has given out over 100,000 Gospel tracts, 100’s of New Testaments and many Bibles.

Jack was accidentally killed May 29th 2012 in a tragic traffic incident on the streets of Los Angeles.
