Michael Stewart Reisch, born in New York City, NY, is an American social worker, educator, and political activist. He is Distinguished Professor of Social Justice, University of Maryland, School of Social Work. Dr. Reisch received a Bachelor in History, New York University, in 1968. He received a Doctor of Philosophy in History, State University of New York, Binghamton, in 1975. He received a Master of Social Work, City University of New York, in 1979.
Beginning in 1971, Dr. Reisch has held numerous positions in social work and has been a consultant for numerous local, state, and federal political campaigns. He has published numerous articles, in addition to authoring or co-authoring numerous books, including The Road Not Taken: A History of Radical Social Work in the United States (2014) and Social Work and Social Justice: Concepts, Challenges, and Strategies (2016).
