Madeline Montgomery Dale (1918-2003) is the author of the historical novel Southern Cross (published 1998). A native of the Chicago area, she attended Shimer College, then located in Mount Carroll, where she completed her studies in 1938. She later worked as a photographic model before marrying, moving with her husband to Minneapolis and Boston, and ultimately to Florida in retirement.
