Astra Zero (born Dustin Nicholls) is a queer Canadian multidisciplinary visual artist, illustrator, designer, video editor, creative director, musician, and author. His work spans illustration, digital painting, 3D art, animation, graphic design, and music.
His visual practice often explores gothic, macabre, and darkly playful imagery, alongside sexually charged reinterpretations of historical art and pop culture through a queer perspective.
Beginning primarily as a 2D artist working in drawing and painting, his practice has expanded over time to incorporate a wide range of digital and mixed media techniques, including 3D sculpting and rendering, animation, and photo and video editing. In addition to visual art, he publishes illustrated art books and releases music under the same name.
