Subject:
"Graphic Statics", 3'ed Ed.(1897)
This is actually "Graphic Statics", the second volume of the 4-volume series "Roofs & Bridges", which was one of the principle ca. 1895-1915 civil engineering school text books on the design of roofs and bridges. This copy is of the 1910 (14'th yearly) printing of the 1897 (3'ed) edition of Graphic Statics.
The subject is the graphical analysis of stresses in roof trusses and simple bridges. This is effectively the use of drafting techniques as a low resolution analog computer, for the rapid estimation of stresses and/or checking the results of the numerical methods covered in the first volume "Stresses".
As a copy, this one is mostly complete and quite legible. As usual with Google copies of such engineering works, the inset folded plates were not unfolded when copied. Thus those parts of the text that reference the six plates will be difficult or impossible to follow. How severely this reduces the book's utility will depend upon the reader's focus
