First German ed. 1687. See VD17
Text appears to have been reset from a copy of Jacob Koppmayer and Johann Ulrich Krauss's Augsburg ed. of 1690 (cf. Getty record 84-B9507). Engravings and woodcut tail-pieces are identical, woodcut initials are different. There is no date, but in VD17 "ca. 1690" has been supplied conjecturally
Illustrations: re-engraved (and reversed) from those of Sébastien Le Clerc for French editions published in Paris starting in 1668; see BN, Inventaire du fond français, graveurs du XVIIe siècle, Sébastien Leclerc, II 1541-1577. The tapestries after designs of Charles Le Brun are depicted in 8 double-page engravings. Those for the "Quatre elemens" are signed by Johanna Sybilla Krauss. The 32 engraved emblems taken from the tapestry borders were designed by Jacques Bailly. Each is accompanied by prose explanations and the verses of Charles Perrault, Jean Chapelin and others in French & German
Decoration: added t.p., section frontispieces, two head-pieces and two decorated initials, all engraved after Le Clerc. The added t.p. is signed by Johann Ulrich Krauss. Woodcut tail-pieces and decorated initials

Binding: later vellum. Title written on spine
