Subject: History of the original book owner in case you're curious
I've got a bit of a hobby for stalking dead people, and I've done a little sleuthing on the pervious owner of this book, Helen Caroline Colman (named on the dedication page). From what I've found, I believe she was the daughter of Jeremiah and Caroline Colman, who were the proprietors of the company Coleman's, an English condiment manufacturer that still exists today. Helen was born on April 18th, 1865 and was just 12 years old when she recieved this book as a christmas present. Later in life, she herself became an author, having published a book in 1905 recounting her father's life and achievements titled: Jeremiah James Colman: A Memoir. I couldn't find any information about her personal life, just that she passed away on August 21st, 1947 in a priory just short of half a mile from the home she was born in.
