Edition Notes
This 26th ed. listed in advertisement, "A catalogue of 'Nonsense books' by the late Edward Lear", at the end of the 1888 F. Warne ed. of the author's More nonsense. English catalogue IV, p. 334, lists 2 eds., 1881 and 1888, of which this ed. is the latter, in one entry: "Book of Nonsense, w. coloured illus. 4to, 7s 6d (or 6 num. 1s each); n[ew]. e[d]. 6s Warne 1881-8". Harvard Univ. reports 25th ed., 1888, and 27th ed., 1889 (NUC pre-56 NL0174248, 50)
"Dalziel Bros., Camden Press, London, N.W."--leaf 109 (with order number(?) "O12619488125", which probably indicates 1888 printing date)
In publisher's blue cloth, bevelled boards; front cover with author and title in gold (historiated title lettering) with pictorial border and "110 illustrations" in black; spine title in gold, similar to front cover; back cover blank; pale yellow endpapers
