Jeff Unaegbu

October 1, 1979 -

Record holder of the longest poem by a Nigerian, a poem of 700 lines with 668 metrical lines, Jeff Unaegbu was born on October 1, 1979 to John Unaegbu and Cecilia Unaegbu. He hails from Amankwo Inyi in Oji River LGA of Enugu State in Nigeria. A versatile personality, Jeff has not only written books but also made documentaries and acted in films. His first movie was 'Saved by Sin' directed by Fidelis Okoro (anotherauthor in Open Library). He went on to direct his own movie, Udaram, which was an adaptation from Professor Emeka Otagburuagu's book, Udaram and Other Stories. Jeff Unaegbu is presently a Cinematographer at the Institute of African Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
His first book, Ode on Lagos, was reviewed by Newswatch Magazine as the longest poem written by a Nigerian. The second book, History of the SUG, UNN (1960-2004) won 3rd position in the Nigerian Universities Research and Development Fair of 2008. His third book coathored with Dr. G.E. Akpojotor, "Alexander O.E. Animalu: A Biography of the Distinguished Professor of Physics", was reviewed by Bartholomew Nnaji, Former Minister of Science and Technology of Nigeria in August 2008. His fourth book, "Origins of the NYSC" is a bestseller listed already in ASC, Leiden University. He has many other books to his credit as well as fifteen films.
