Appearances can be deceiving...

"I wouldn't go out with a sailor like you," Ella had said primly. "I hate slumming!"

It sounded snobbish, but she had to discourage him somehow - especially as he was too old and experienced and seemed very taken with her sister Fiona, who suffered from serious asthma attacks.

The only reason Ella Channing had taken a job on the Cote d'Azur, working for a 'seemingly' rich woman, was to provide Fiona with a climate appropriate to her health problems - being invited by the free & easy 'sailor' Scott on the luxury boat he worked on, was definitely not part of Ella's plan to protect Fiona !

The "sailor" proved to be Bertrand Scott, owner of the luxurious yacht, and one of Europe's most eligible millionaires. Ella was mortified when she discovered the truth. But strangely enough, her rude rejection had only made Scott more interested; despite the added complication of Ella's employer, who is quite cash strapped, despite appearances, making a determined play for Bertrand.

To a man accustomed to easy conquests, Ella was definitely a challenge. "Don't fight me, Ella," he said softly. "When I want something, I always get it!" |
