About the Book

This book is about the journeys of men from boyhood to manhood and the roads they take to achieve ultimate manhood, success. False Roads to Manhood is written with surgical precision and examines the emotions of men not only to help them understand themselves and informs women about understanding today's man and his choices in life.

William and I became close friends, and I still admire him very much. At the age of 22, he had not suffered any scars or wounds of life like most men his age, nor had he wandered down the false roads to manhood. William, a single man, amazingly had not dealt with the complicated relationship issues most young men find themselves in when dealing with the opposite sex. Am I insinuating that his sex drive is dead? No. Like any young man, William does have desires for female companionship and admits he thinks it would fill the physical and emotional needs he has. Although I am several years older than William, his friendship blessed my life. As William got older, he realized his father was not too affectionate with him or his mother. He believes that his grandfather impacted the way his father expressed affection. However, William’s father was most affectionate when he engaged in sports.

First Sentence

The chore of trying to meet the standards of what a man should be can cause men to crack under immense pressure and abandon their calling as husbands, fathers, providers and spiritual leaders.

Edition Notes

Iris Raeshaun, publisher of OURNEWS Christian Magazine, recently provided this review: “We need not look far to see the repercussions of sons and daughters growing up without fathers, or grown girls grappling in marriages to grown boys, both searching for their fathers, or a semblance of a father, for affirmation of themselves. For every man and woman in search of themselves, the lost, given away, taken away, or abandoned parts of themselves should stop everything they are doing, hole up in a quiet place with “False Roads…”, read it and re-read it word for word, from cover to cover. You will emerge a new person. In this painfully good work, Frank reminds us all of the redemptive power of the Cross. Frank becomes vulnerable, stripping himself of male egotism and pride’s false coverings, revealing true manhood, imploring both men and women alike to lay down their burdens of brokenness, shed their cloaks of guilt and shame and rise up from the ashes in the beauty of wholeness and the beauty of holiness.”
