Young Tiria Wildlough is an otter maid touched by the paw of Destiny. Her tale is an epic adventure which takes her from Redwall Abbey, across the wild Western sea to the mysterious Green Isle. There she will fulfill an ancient prophesy and gain her inheritance.

Green Isle is home to the Otterclans but they are beset by dangers from the Wildcat Riggu Felis and his catguard slave masters. Aided by two birds and a platoon of Long patrol hares, Tiria joins forces with the outlaw Leatho Shellhound and his Otterclan.

In the true tradition of Redwall comes a new saga full of feasts and fighting, riddles and quests, and a heroine you’re not likely to forget as she strives to become the chosen one—the High Rhulain!

Table of Contents

Book one : The forgotten tome.
The wind moaned like a wounded beast in the Southwest
In the woodlands south of Redwall Abbey, the other young creatures were abroad that day
Beyond the high seas, far away on Green Isle, a monumental bulk loomed over the landscape of swamps, streams and watermeadows
That evening at supper, the Great Hall of Redwall was abuzz with the exploits of Tiria and her friends
Tiria was up with the dawn the next morning with a sense of unfulfilled purpose that she could not name
It was late night over Green Isle
Old Quelt smiled at the embarrassment on the faces of Sister Snowdrop and her four companions
Big Kolun Galedeep had 10 small otterbabes, which was almost half of his family, aboard his boat, the Rustynail
Brother Perant would not allow Tiria, Tribsy or Brinty back into his Infirmary, even though they pleaded with him
Daybreak drifted sluggishly over Green Isle, dull and grey
In the attic above the Abbey Library, the window shutters had been removed
It was a beautiful night outside, still warm from the long, hot summer day
Book two : The fool of the sea.
Riggu Felis, an able general and a cunning tactician, deserved the title of warlord
It was shortly after sunrise at the Abbey
Dawn brought pale-washed skies, drizzle and a layer of mist over windless land and sea
Happy sounds of Dibbuns laughing and playing drifted up through the open library window at Redwall Abbey
Holt Summerdell was still some distance off as the otter clans and their families made it into the start of the high country
Noontide soon warmed the worn wallsteps of Redwall Abbey
Tiria's first dawn aboard the Purloined Petunia was heralded by a rude awakening
Through the overhead foliage, midday sunlight dappled a lacy pattern upon the three otters resting in a woodland glade
Brantalis the barnacle goose was enjoying the quiet summer morn
Under cover of darkness, the Purloined Petunia sailed in toward the mystic mountain fortress of Salamandastron
Returning swiftly to her former position at the window, Tiria continued to scan the sea, though her mind was in a state of turmoil
Book three : Across the western sea.
Leatho Shellhound regained consciousness painfully, discovering that he could only see through one eye
Choked and blinded by thick clouds of billowing dust inside the stairwell, Skipper Banjon took a flying leap upward
Tiria had never been beneath the sea before
Leatho Shellhound struggled wildly to avoid the spear as Kaltag stabbed viciously down at him
With the exception of Cuthbert, most of the Long Patrol hares were ill-suited to seafaring life
Leatho Shellhound had decided on a course of action
It was midnoon
Leatho Shellhound was bone weary for want of sleep
As the fortress doors swung open, a catguard came staggering along the hallway
The clans were crossing a stream, Tiria, Leatho and Big Kolun leading the procession, each with an otterbabe sitting upon their shoulders
Deedero Galedeep was chopping leeks and scallions to add to her stewpot when an otterbabe came bursting through the waterfall curtain into the cavern
