The original ms. was untitled. Title pencilled by a later hand on leaf 1a: Synopsis of Coke upon Lyttleton. Rebound and boxed by LC in 1992; title on box: Synopsis of Coke on Littleton.
"748 sections ... This entire book is in the handwriting of Francis North, Lord Guilford. It undoubtedly came from the Records Room of the Crown, where in Francis Palgrave, the 'Keeper of the Records,' made the note on the opposite page in Dec. 1842"--Prelim. leaf [1]. Palgrave's note reads "This volume is very interesting as showing the extraordinary labour bestowed by the lawyers of the aera of Lord Guilford upon Coke-Lyttleton & how entirely they considered that work as the basis of the law. Lord Guilford has incorporated in it some few notes of his own ..."
