Al in het midden van de jaren 50 van de vorige eeuw zijn er een aantal kunstenaars, die het belang inzien van een goede balans tussen planten, dieren, mensen en hun omgeving. Deze kunstenaars signaleren dat de 'resources' van Moeder Aarde niet onuitputtelijk zijn en gaan door middel van kunstzinnige, spraakmakende en innovatieve projecten aandacht vragen voor ecologie en duurzaamheid. Deze 'ecoventions' (samentrekking van ecology en inventions) zijn veelal cross-overs tussen verschillende disciplines (zoals social media, gemeenschapskunst, landschapsarchitectuur en technologie). Daarnaast worden diverse partijen bij de projecten betrokken, zoals wetenschappers, politici en andere belanghebbenden. Museum De Domijnen Hedendaagse Kunst ( Contemporary Art) proudly presents the "Ecovention Europe" exhibition. This publication gives an overview of art and ecology in Europe in the past sixty years. Many different artworks and artists are featured in this edition. Exhibition: Museum De Domijnen, Sittard, The Netherlands (03.09.2017-07.01.2018).
