Edition Notes

Legal text in Middle French, commentary in Latin.
The index/repertory, with t.p. that includes imprint, precedes the main work, apparently as issued; royal privilege, dated 1531, is printed on its verso.
On prelim. leaf [59], a subsidiary (imprintless) t.p. reads: Consuetudines Ducatus Burgundiae domini Bartholomaei de Chasseneuz, humanorum iurium Doctoris praestantissimi (group port. with the author) : Bartholomaei Chassenei magni, in Prouinciali senatu amplissimo praeside[n]tis Commentariorum in Consuetudines Ducatus Burgundiae praecipuè, ac totius Galliae, suprema recognitio : cum accessione quàm vnqua[m] maxima ... : repertorium praeterea non parum auctum est ...
Both title pages are printed in red and black and have identical woodcut borders; the first one carries publisher's device (hand holding olive branches and scepter topped by a shining eye; motto: Vincenti). On verso of last leaf, device: apostles Peter and Paul holding up cloth with image of Jesus.
Text of the Coutumes (homologated in 1459) is included in sections, typographically distinct from the phrase-by-phrase commentary that follows each.
Printed in Lyon by Denis de Harsy in July of 1535 (colophons, prelim. leaf [58]b and leaf 389b).
Signatures: Aa-Ii⁶ Kk⁴; *⁶ a-z⁶ A-Z⁶ aa-tt⁶. (N.B. Register on leaf 389b lists sig. * as a duernio)
