Work Description
This charming colored-picture small book for small hands takes a child who imagines himself as a cowboy through his day. He puts on deerskin chaps with flaps, double silver gun holsters, big white cowboy hat; and he goes out imagining himself riding broncos. Then he comes home to his mother who has fixed brightly colored cupcakes for him. He is all tuckered out and takes his nap. As a tomboy, I was determined to be just like him because I imagined for many birthdays that a real pony surely would be waiting for me tied to the back bumper of the car in the one-car garage on the 1/8th acre plot. The verbiage is rather sing-song so it helps a pre-schooler to learn to read. I do not recall how, if at all, Indians were mentioned, but 1950's children had firm ideas about the friendship of Tonto and thr Masked Ranger. I refound the book image on a Pininterest display of 61 favorite 1950's children's book but have no wish to register in social media.
