Edition Notes

Holograph, signed with initials.

Letter written in pencil.

William Lloyd Garrison describes a trip he took to Oakland Beach, a resort halfway between Providence and Newport. Garrison met an old man who spent forty years and thousands of dollars trying to cure his rheumatism. Garrison tells of the friends he met. Charlotte Anthony has a swollen knee that has crippled her somewhat. Garrison received an electrical treatment from Dr. Joseph Dow, which relieved his rheumatic pain considerably.
