Edition Notes
Title supplied from opening line of text. Also commonly known as "Cartilla para la enseñanza de la doctrina cristiana en lengua zotzil, latina y castellana"
Publication information and description largely based on research by Nicolás León from his ms. notes of June 1910 in the John Carter Brown Library bibliographic file, and earlier speculation recorded in his column "La imprenta en Mexico", in El tiempo ilustrado, March 14, 1909. The copy was imperfect, having only leaves a1-a7, but is the most complete recorded. It was shown to him by the then Bishop of Chiapas, Francisco Orozco y Jiménez. Based upon an illustration of Mary and a reference in one of the prayers, León further concluded that the author was a Dominican.
