What does it mean to be noble? When this word is invoked, it usually conjures up an image from Medieval times of a baron with lands, titles, and castles. Yet to be noble is something much more profound than being an aristocrat. In this message, Wesley Strackbein explains that a noble man or woman is someone whose adherence to a higher code compels them to take responsibility for those under their care; to act with dignity, self-sacrifice, and a sense of noblesse oblige in view of the blessings afforded them. He contrasts the examples of Judah and Reuben given to us in Genesis, showing how that Judah, though a traitor to his father's interests early on, acted nobly late in life; while Reuben, who displayed the outward bearing of nobility, proved, in the end, to be ignoble of heart and untrustworthy as a leader. He urges Christians -- those bought with a price to a high calling of service -- to reclaim the lost attribute of nobility and to lead the culture as ambassadors for Christ. - Publisher.
