Few remains of the work of William Chalmers Burns (1815-1868) survive in the annals of the Christian Church. Beyond his native Scotland he is best known as a figure passing through the life of Hudson Taylor, the founder of the China Inland Mission. These pages will revive Burns' magnificent testimony to the gospel of Jesus Christ. They record some of the messages he preached in days of revival when he was still in his twenties, and even in written form they continue to pulsate with echoes of the power in which they were first preached. To read these pages is to overhear the voice of a man whose zeal for God consumed him. - Back cover.
