Publisher's advertisements on p. [1-4] at end include a list of the first thirteen numbers in "The Hans Andersen Library for the Young" series, including "VII. The Marsh King's daughter.".

Several wood-engraved illustrations and colour wood-engraved plate are signed "Dalziel". A few are also signed "MB".

MASS copy: Bound in blue sand-grain cloth blocked in gold and black. Spine blocked in gold and lower cover blocked in black with: "The Hans Andersen Library". With prize inscription: "15th Class. Presented to Elizabeth McGowan by the Trustees of S. S. No. 11, Trafalgar ... April 23th [sic]1873 James Campbell Teacher.".
