The binding is an accordion-fold. Each leaf of stiff paper is fastened onto a fold in the accordion. Sample are stitched onto 15 of the leaves. The samples are 6-inch squares of fabric and paper found in the artist's studio. "There is stamping and printing anew on some of the squares"--First leaf of text. Each sample has an identifying caption; the final leaf is fastened to the lower board.

The text is printed on the verso of the leaves. The book is hinged by the accordion-fold binding at its top and opens like a book of charts. It can also hang on a wall as art. When lifted by the top cover the accordion opens and the samples display one below the other.
