Playscript for the Broadway musical, in two acts, including song lyrics. Based on The once and future king, by T.H. White.
The play opened at the Majestic Theatre in New York City on December 3, 1960, and ran for a total of 873 performances. Produced by Alan Jay Lerner, Frederick Loewe and Moss Hart, and directed by Moss Hart, the opening night cast included Julie Andrews, Richard Burton, Robert Coote, John Cullum, M'el Dowd, Robert Goulet, Roddy McDowall and Virginia Allen. The production won Tony awards for: Best Actor (Richard Burton), Best Actress in a musical (Julie Andrews), Best Scenic Design-Musical (Oliver Smith), Best Costume Design-Musical (Adrian, Tony Duguette), Best Conductor and Musical Director (Franz Allers).
