Cover title.

Most photographs measure 27 x 22 cm.

The Palais des Beaux Arts (Palace of Fine Arts) and the Palais des Arts Libe raux (Palace of Liberal Arts) were designed by the architect Jean Camille Formige and constructed for the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Originally standing on opposite sides of the Eiffel Tower, they were both demolished in 1897 to make room for new construction in the run-up to the 1900 exposition on the same site.

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy housed in original four-flap wrapper as issued. The boards of the wrapper are halfbound in goatskin and pebbled cloth, with the title stamped in gilt on the upper cover.
