This is a French translation of Giuseppe Peano's Formulario Mathematico, originally published 1895, in which the author develops a formal language in which to express mathematical theorems. Many notations invented by Peano in this book have are widely used to this day, such as the set-theoretical symbols ∈, ⊂, ∩, and ∪.

Giuseppe Peano is also known for Peano Arithmetic, an axiomatization for arithmetic (addition and multiplication) on the natural numbers.
