Inspired by Vatican II, this unique series offered a spiritual renewal program aimed directly at the needs of the Canadian Catholic laity in the mid-eighties. The book offers a means of self direction among small lay groups in a home setting. 'Becoming Followers of Jesus' maps out a promising new road encouraging participants to discover their spiritual roots based on a individual experience of God in their everyday life. The program is divided into 6 separate units and 69 weeks, which could be comfortably covered in a period of approximately two years or more. The two volume text consists of a 'Participant's Manual' and a 'Facilitator's Guide'.

First Sentence

"from the Introduction: "Humans alone in this earth have the ability to ask the all important question "Why?" Why are we here, being what we are and doing what we're doing? Why are things the way they are? This little word, why, invites our minds, our hearts and hopefully even our feet on a pilgrimage, a quest for truth.""

It is excellent for adults as well. Because it is experience based, it could be used for many meetings to reflect on our work experience. You could follow our usual introductory approach of reflecting on experience in the light of faith and then follow the suggested format on issues; such as, unemployment, unions, industrial disease and injury, conditions of farm work, coke workers in Guatemala, problems of clerical workers. Ten Days' booklets (1980 & 1981) on work are also excellent for this.
