Original t-.p.: The passionate pilgrime. By W. Shakespeare. At London Printed for W. Iaggard, and are to be sold by W. Leake, at the Greyhound in Paules Churchyard, 1599.

"No more than five poems can be ascribed with confidence to his pen. Of the remaining fifteen, five were assigned without controversy to other hands in Shakespeare's lifetime; two were published elsewhere anonymously; and eight, although of uncertain authorship, lack all signs of Shakespeare's workmanship."--Introd., p. 8.

Facsimile printed on one side of leaf only, except last three printed leaves.

Signatures of original: A-Dp8s (first and last leaf blank)

At Cb3s is a second title: Sonntes to sundry to sundry notes of musicke. [Ornament] At London Printed for W. Iaggard [etc.] 1599.

Bound in white vellum, gilt.

The discovery in 1920 of fragments of an earlier edition indicates that this is the second rather than the first edition. cf. The passionate pilgrim ... reproduced in facsimile from the unique copy in the Folger Shakespeare library, introduction by J.Q. Adams. 1939.
