Place of Birth: Dalai Pada of Sambalpur. District: Sambalpur, State: Odisha, INDIA. Father: Purandar Pasayat.
Mother: Sushila Pasayat.
Sisters: Pushpalata and Tarulata.
Wife: Sarmistha.
Son: Bishub Millan.

Education:
1. Ph.D. in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems (CSSS), School of Social Sciences (SSS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India in 1992. Guide: Prof. T. K. Oommen.
2. M.Phil. in Sociology from CSSS, SSS, JNU, New Delhi, India in 1986.
Supervisor: Prof. Nandu Ram.
3. M.A. in Sociology from J NU, New Delhi, India in 1984.
4. N.E.T. (UGC, New Delhi, India) in 1985.
5. LL.B. from Gangadhar Mohapatra Law College, Puri, Odisha, India in 2004.
6. Graduation from Gangadhar Meher College, Sambalpur, Odisha, India in 1982.

1. 18 books in English and Odia language.
2. More than 60 Research Papers in various National and International Journals namely Man In India, The Eastern Anthropologist, Journal of Social Research, Man and Development, Man and Life, Orissa Historical Research Journal, Utkal Historical Research Journal, Orissa Review, Adivasi, Lokratna, etc.

Dr. Pasayat is associated with many Academic Associations. He has also Membership in various Professional Organisations. He is the Life Member of the following bodies:
1. Indian Sociological Society, New Delhi;
2. Ethnographic and Folk Culture Society, Lucknow;
3. Institute of Applied Anthropology and Social Research, Kolkata;
4. Orissa Economic Association;
5. The Institute of Oriya Studies, Cuttack;
