About Master Domingo Colon

Master Domingo Colon began his study of Tai Chi in 1965. He studied under three leading authorities of the art, Masters C. K. Chu, B. P. Chan and Wm. C.C. Chen. By 1975, he had developed the necessary skills to be appointed Chief Instructor by Master C. K. Chu. In 1978, he founded the Tai Chi School of Westchester, where he currently conducts classes in the complete art of Tai Chi. Master Colon has also trained in Physical Therapy, and in 1992 was certified as an Adaptive Fitness Instructor trained to teach aerobic, strength and flexibility exercises to the physically challenged.

Since 1971, Master Colon has taught numerous special programs for many Tri-State hospitals, corporations, civic groups, colleges, universities, and other health centers. He has appeared numerous times on television and radio, and is a frequent contributor to publications concerning martial arts and holistic healing. He has also designed specialized programs and videos for seniors and individuals with special needs.

In 2001 Master Colon created the “Fundamentals of Tai Chi” video series, for beginners and advanced students.
In 2003, Master Colon wrote “Teaching Tai Chi to Special Populations”, designed to assist Tai Chi teachers adapt their classes for individuals with special needs. Then, in 2006 Master Colon published “Senior’s Tai Chi Workout” book, the first comprehensive yet easy to follow practice book specifically for seniors.

This unique and extensive background in Tai Chi and physical therapy allows Master Colon to teach a highly effective and safe synthesis of Eastern and Western healing methods.
