Scott Shaw

1958 -

Born in Hollywood, California, Scott Shaw emerged as an author during the 1970s. The first of his works to be published was his poetry and literary fiction. Soon after this his Zen Buddhist based writings began to be released by large publishing houses. In the 1980s, Shaw, a lifelong martial artist, emerged as one of the leading voices on the subject. Since that time industry leaders have continued to publish his articles and books on the physical and spiritual aspects of the martial arts.

In addition to writing, Scott Shaw is also an active filmmaker. In the early 1990s he developed the concept of Zen Filmmaking -- which embraces the free-flowing elements of Zen and integrates them into the filmmaking process.

As a university professor, Shaw has taught courses on Asian Studies and Filmmaking at such institutions as the University of California, Los Angeles, California State University, Los Angeles, the University of Oxford, Silpakorn University, and the Korea National University of the Arts.
