H. Robert Von der Mühll

Né en Alsace le 5 octobre 1898. H. Robert Von der Mühll fit des études classiques à Mulhouse et à Berne. Après son diplôme architecte à l'Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Zurich (Karl Moser), il participa la reconstruction de Saint-Quentin (1921). En 1922-1923, il travailla à Berlin, à l'atelier de Bruno Paul, puis à Paris chez Le Cœur (construction de l'hôlel des Postes de Reims, premier prix) et à Bruxelles. A Vienne, il collabora avec le professeur Josef Hoffmann.
Dès 1925, il ouvrit un bureau à Lausanne et construisit des villas, des immeubles de rapport, des écoles. Il fut un des premiers en Suisse à propager l'idée de l'urbanisme et des réunions intercommunales. Sur le plan international, il fut en contact avec les pionniers du mouvement moderne de l'art, organisa des expositions et fut, en 1928, membre fondateur des CIAM et de l'Association suisse du Plan d'aménagement national (ASPAN) ; il construisit en Grèce le pavillon de l'Institut suisse et l'hôpital de Patmos et, à Téhéran, une grande villa ce maîtres.
Parallèlement, dans ses écrits et par ses conférences, il n'a cessé d'exposer ses idées, ce dont cet ouvrage offre un large aperçu.

Born in Alsace on October 5, 1898. H. Robert Von der Mühll had a classical education in Mulhouse and Bern. After his degree in architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (Karl Moser), he helped rebuild San Quentin (1921). In 1922-1923 he worked in Berlin, Bruno Paul's workshop, then in Paris at The Heart (Holel the construction of Posts of Reims, first prize) and Brussels. In Vienna, he collaborated with Professor Josef Hoffmann.
In 1925, he opened an office in Lausanne and built villas, investment properties, schools. He was one of the first in Switzerland to spread the idea of urban planning and intermunicipal meetings. Internationally, he was in contact with the pioneers of the modern art movement, organized exhibitions, and was, in 1928, a founding member of CIAM and the Swiss Association of the National Development Plan (SPP); he built in Greece the flag of the Swiss Institute and Hospital and Patmos, in Tehran, a large villa that masters.
Meanwhile, in his writings and lectures, he has continued to expose his ideas, which this book provides a broad overview of.
