Rice sends proofs of Oliver Johnson's review of Eli Thayer's book. He informs May that he is encountering difficulty trying to find high quality paper. On the reverse of Rice's letter is a letter dated "Tuesd. Ev'g" from May to Oliver Johnson in which May commends the sample paper, tells of proofreading the pamphlet, and mentions a failure to attack one of Eli Thayer's contentions.
